As part of my NYP (NY Project) I had to replicate the doll in the photo on the right. I made a muslin doll first, then dressed her in rose bud flannel and covered that with sheer fabric. Her hat is from a cotton fabric in rose buds print. I used marking pen for facial features, as it looked like that is what was used in the photo. This is an old childhood doll that was much loved. I mimicked the stitching around head and hat, and even the sewn up tears on the outfit. All the clothing were sewn on the doll by hand. I see a little rose bud on the photo on the top of the hat and know I have one here somewhere just like it. So will sew it to the top of hat when found. Not sure if I should try again for a fatter doll. What do you think? This will be sewn to the whole art quilt so can't be too big.
