Tuesday Lunch at Jalisco's An Ink Drawing

On Tuesday I didn't really WANT to go out to eat lunch, I had a year or so ago cut back to NO eating out and then slowly upped that to once a week; and now it's not that I WANT to EAT out, but I want to GO out and DRAW at Jalisco's or some other eatery. So it's more like twice a week now.

I think as the weather warms up and more people will be sitting outside at noontime in our town square I will bring my own food again and draw outdoors. ( I actually did that on Wednesday!)

I wonder if you are getting bored by the People of Jalisco's? They are always different and I keep hoping I am getting better at capturing them. I am not sure if this couple would recognize themselves, but I thought I captured them fairly well. The other woman, on the other hand, does not look like that particular woman much at all, but DH says it does look like an "older woman". I thought I made her rather masculine looking. I like the addition of some of the outdoors seen through the curtained windows and front door.  Your comments and feedback are welcomed.

  1. I like seeing your people. I can't draw people worth a cent. It would be fun to be able to capture at least the essence of someone. Keep up the good work.

  2. Lynn, I am sure with some artists making their sketches really look like the people before them would be the goal. I am not sure what you goal is, but the result is very YOU. I would recognized your drawing style even if the drawings were not on yr blog. Yes, to what lisa says. You capture the essence of the person intermingled with the essence of you.

  3. I like seeing your drawings. I think I would like seeing more color maybe. I like how you paint some parts but not all. The more you draw the more you do improve and I have seen it happening for sure. :)I think getting the essence of someone is more important then doing them perfect. Some can draw perfectly but not have the attitudes in the painting that you get. I can just 'hear' that couples conversation by the attitude or body language you drew..Shes so busy telling him about something and he is torn between reading the menu and listening. :)You told a story there.

  4. Just a comment about the comment section. I've noticed lots of blogs have switched to this format. Sometimes there is no place to leave a comment until I click on someone's "reply" then this box pops up and I can leave a comment. I don't know if all sites are having that problem or just some. I didn't leave comments for awhile because I couldn't figure out how! I like what Cris says above - I had to go back and look at the man and she is right, he's trying to read his menu while she's yack, yack, yacking at him! Keep up the sketching - it inspires me to see you do this so regularly. It makes me want to get back to a sketching schedule.

  6. Don't ever think we are getting bored with your sketchings at Jalisco's...you capture life and what you see, in your own unique style, and 'putting myself forward as spokesperson here' : We all love seeing.

  7. I like seeing how you can toss these sketches out over a lunch break. Maybe that's my problem; I stress and pore over my sketches until I don't really enjoy doing them. Loosen up, Kate!
