Senor J. at Taco Jalisco's, Bakery Girls Over Lunch, Town Squarers and...

On Thursday I had lunch at Taco Jalisco's and the house filled up quickly. I chose a table in the middle side that faced the kitchen where Senor J. (as I have chosen to call him) was working non stop setting out burritos and other Mexican fare for his diners.  He works so hard.

The day before on Wednesday I walked down town and had lunch at Pure Grain Bakery where I drew these two young women finishing up their lunch. They each had a rather large purse up on the table.
It was fun to add the spring blooms on the vines and leaves on the trees outside big the windows.

After they left I eyeballed this young woman a table away working hard at her computer and looking like she might be writing in a journal. I liked the whole feel of this drawing. She was both relaxed yet busy.

After lunch on Thursday I walked down town again to our town square where I sat outside on a rod iron bench like the one you see a young lady sitting on here and quickly sketched the people near and far walking around and past me.

To me sketching is drawing quickly like this picture  below, and drawing is drawing more slowly like the pictures up above.

If you'd like to see something in color go to the post below this one. I may paint these drawings later, but for now this is a post in Black and White. I hope drawing without painting still qualifies for posting on Paint Party Friday! ;-)

Happy Paint Party Friday

  5. These are fantastic. I would be too scared to go out in public and try to do what you do. I'm hopeless at perspective and people always end up with huge heads.

  11. You get so much sketching done at lunch, I wonder if you actually eat, or just order a drink and get busy. I am afraid in a fight between sketching and eating a big old burrito, the burrito would win with me. Your little snippets of busy people caught in their day are wonderful.

  12. I so look forward to your drawings each week. I really want to know what the two young girls are talking about. How much fun you must have observing people. I am a great people watcher but I have not yet found the confidence to draw them as I observe. Maybe I'll try soon.

  14. This certainly qualifies for PPF, so also for art, for history of Americana in our day. Wonderful drawings. I like the girl with her laptop. You put in enough detail to take us there with you!

  15. You have certainly been busy observing people Lynn....each of your drawings tells a great story. Oh, and welcome to Painting Friends, good to see you there - hope you will put in some of these drawings. There is a Sketching section, you could start a Thread of them, and there are lots more besides. It took me a while to get the hang of the site (still working it out), but I am enjoying it.

The large purses, so typical, huh?
