On Sunday I walked down to the playground again. There were children climbing on this huge play structure. One little boy making me particularly nervous, as he insisted on climbing on the OUTSIDE of the structure that has all those bars on it to keep kids SAFE inside of it. But no, he was barefoot and he climbed up it like a monkey to the very top over and over again. Probably a good twelve feet or more off the ground.
His grandfather sat on a bench far from where he was to do any good, as if he might catch him if he fell anyway, saying softly "be careful, be careful".
I sat and silently prayed and drew!
Luckily for all concerned the kid did not fall or get hurt.
I drew this in ink then I filled it in with my new colored pencils dry.
Later that evening when I was home I added water with my paint brush bringing the colors more alive!
You may have noticed that this art journal has spirals at both sides. I found it at a thrift store for $2.99. The pages overlap one from one side then one from the other. A strange arrangement for a book, but I liked that about it. It was different! I'm not sure what quality the paper is. It's thick. Not watercolor paper but it accepted water just fine. I think I am going to have fun filling it up.
