Drawing People in Places and Things Every Day!

Barnes and Noble Café where they sell Starbucks coffee has bright red tables. They promise to brighten anything I draw! Two folks were busy with books, laptop, writing, while one guy took a few short minutes to choose a drink from the shelves and I took that quick few moments to draw him!

Another colorful place to draw is Tacos Jalisco. I don't go there as often as I used to, but I still enjoy drawing there. These people were spaced out all over the room which was very full, so full that one woman had to order laying on her side!

Every Day in September keeps me drawing to prompts daily. This one was "Liquid" done on Yupo paper. Fun smooth stuff to draw on.

My other favorite place to draw is Starbucks. My models sit still for the most part and give me plenty of time to capture their moods and activity.

I loved drawing her. She was so full of herself in a very positive way!

Next prompt for EDi September was "Marbles" also done on Yupo paper with those pencils that have multiple colors in one pencil, and a few markers got into the act as well.

"Nutcracker" next prompt. Are you getting that they are in alphabetical order? It took me two weeks to realize that! I'm a little slow.

This was the day a guy tried to pick me up at Starbucks. Asking if I was "Michele"! No, I'm not Michele. She never came as he stayed around a while and then left.

These guys caught my eye immediately, well the gun on the waist of one of them did. Turned out they were Private Security dudes. They laughed a lot. They must really like their job.

After that first guy left, who asked if I was Michele, this woman came in alone. I wondered if she were Michele and missed her blind date?

The prompts are really fun and challenging. They get me doing things I've never tried before. This one was for "Optical Illusion". If you stand back from your computer you might see it moving over the hills and valleys ... go on, stretch your imagination a bit. Today it's reminding me of a parachute. A very colorful one.

I don't know much about "Pop Art" so I looked it up on Google. There's this artist who makes all the women have red dots or pimples all over their faces. That's why my sort of Pop Selfie has them too.

I drew at the Nugget on two different days. The first time with a fine liner and the second time with my wonderful thick line Parallel pen. Boy is it ever BOLD!

I finished yet another art journal. This one I was using for Sketchbook Skool. But the klasses have ended for now, waiting for a new one in January. Anyone can start any klass now at any time, something new they are offering. Check it out at www.sketchbookskool.com I just cannot tout it highly enough.

On this evening on this last page of the journal Fred was playing guitar in our family room. I went in to listen and decided to practice drawing hands, his hands on the guitar. I obviously need more practice so will take this opportunity again, and again. I love the nightly concerts here.

So have a Creative Week yourselves. Thanks for coming by, and I do get encouraged by your comments so thanks for leaving them. Lets me know you were here too!

  7. Another fun and informative post. I got a kick out of the drawings that were not upright, but sideways or however you could fit them in!

  8. Lynn, Your nutcracker and walnut drawing brought back memories of shelling walnuts during the holidays. My Dad would make nut bread with them. It was a sweet bread that had walnuts and maraschino cherries in it. My mom would make horns which was a pastry with a nut paste inside. Dad would make Kolach which was a Hungarian pastry like a gelly roll with a nut mixture in it. Gee I am getting hungry for all these goodies now.I enjoyed seeing your week illustrated.

  9. Love following you around and seeing what you see. Makes me feel like I'm a fly on your shoulder. Love all your drawings, but because I grew up in the Valley where almonds and walnuts were a mainstay, I've hulled and cracked a lot of nuts. Those were the kind we used. Enjoy your posts very much and I'm trying to begin a journal for my thoughts and life. Thanks of the inspiration.

  14. Love the drawings and the comments. I too was in a regular restaurant in a booth and looked over and one of the guys across the way. . .didn't notice a gun until my friend and were talking. Oops. . .the guy was NOT in a uniform. I would have said undercover something, but if someone were undercover, would you SEE the gun. I was uncomfortable then thought, no, he would give us pretty good protection. YIKES, I know what you mean. Nowadays. . . . Blessings, Janet PPF
